We are seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer to join our team in Mackay, Queensland. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring our mining operations maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational integrity. As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for completing compliance inspections and audits as well as brake testing on various types of plant and equipment, ensuring we meet all legislative requirements and industry standards. This role is integral to protecting our business, our workforce, and our stakeholders whilst supporting our operational excellence objectives. role requires in town and on-site works, open to work life balance options.

Key responsibilities

- Monitor adherence to all relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards across operational sites
- Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify potential risks and gaps
- Investigate compliance breaches and non-conformances, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions
- Maintain detailed compliance documentation, records and reporting systems
- Prepare compliance reports
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and updates relevant to mining operations

Job On Offer

- Above industry pay - negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.
- Monday-to-Friday role
- On site and in town work being home every night mostly, may do overnight or fly to jobs occasionally
- Fully serviced company vehicle
- All equipment provided
- Support and training from an experienced team

What we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work and understands that compliance is about more than ticking a box.

Ideally, you will have:

- Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter , Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge and practical industry experience
- Previous mining, coal, civil, heavy industry or remote-site experience
- Brake Testing qualification/ticket – desirable but not essential - we can provide training.
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence communicating directly with clients
- Ability to use an iPad and digital reporting systems
- Ability to manage your workload and work independently
- Willingness to travel to different client and mine sites when required
- A skilled attitude and strong commitment to safety and compliance
