THE ROLE
Working in the Seniors Policy and Elder Abuse Reform team,
the Senior Policy Officer will undertake policy and program work. This includes developing policy advice, preparing briefs and responding to correspondence on a broad range of topics that impact older people.
This work will involve collaborating closely with key stakeholder and government departments to achieve improved outcomes for older people. This includes primary prevention projects and policy with a focus on ageism and gender inequality experienced by older women, as likely underlying drivers. The role will also require the ability to consider and apply an intersectional lens, including but not limited to older First Peoples, older people with a disability, those living in rural and regional settings, older people from multicultural and LGBTIQA+ communities.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Contribute to the development of briefs submissions, correspondence, and reports on a range of issues that impact older people.
- Develop sound policy advice and recommendations that meet government and department priorities within resourcing and timeline parameters.
- Monitor and report on priority issues, risks and trends that impact older people.
