Urban College is a Specialist School organisation offering theVCE – Vocational Major (VCE-VM), and a modified Year 10 program to 14-21 year olds. We provide an inclusive and individually tailored learning setting for students who have disengaged from mainstream education and are seeking a fresh start.

Learning Assistants play a vital role in supporting the learning, engagement, and wellbeing of our students. Working closely with teachers and wellbeing staff, Learning Assistants help to create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every student can achieve their personal and educational goals.
You will assist in implementing tailored learning programs, provide classroom and individual support, and build meaningful relationships that promote confidence, independence, and resilience in students.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support teaching staff in delivering high-quality, engaging lessons and learning activities that meet diverse student needs.
- Provide individual and small-group assistance to students to help them access learning materials and develop essential skills.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging.
- Collaborate with teachers, wellbeing teams, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
- Support students’ social and emotional development by modelling positive behaviours and promoting resilience.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom and school culture.
Abou You:
- You are passionate about supporting young people who have disengaged from mainstream education.
- You demonstrate patience, empathy, and adaptability in responding to students’ diverse needs.
- You have excellent communication and teamwork skills and value collaboration.
- Experience in education support, youth work, social work or disability support (or relevant qualifications such as a Certificate III/IV in Education Support) will be highly regarded.
- We are seeking Learning Assistants for our Croydon and Boronia campus.
