Maroondah City Council is seeking a highly capable and collaborative leader to strengthen the organisation’s risk and integrity culture. This position presents a unique opportunity to play a meaningful role in strengthening community trust, building organisational resilience and enhancing corporate governance.

Reporting to the Manager Governance and Performance, you will lead, mentor and support a small team of skilled professionals to shape and strengthen Council’s risk maturity and integrity practices.

As the Team Leader Risk and Integrity, you will implement systemic approaches to managing and mitigating risks, build risk capability across service areas, and be a trusted advisor to all levels of the organisation. You will also strengthen Council’s integrity management systems that promote ethical conduct, transparency, accountability and community confidence.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the implementation of Council’s risk management framework and facilitate a proactive risk culture.
- Facilitate Council’s internal audit program to drive continuous improvement across areas of service delivery and business continuity activities.
- Coordinate Council’s integrity framework, including fraud prevention, public interest disclosures, conflicts of interest, privacy and freedom of information.
- Facilitate the effective management of insurance policies, claims and litigated matters.
- Provide strategic advice and build effective relationships across Council, along with government agencies, auditors, insurers, legal representatives and community stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor and support a high-performing team with a strong focus on service delivery, collaboration and continuous improvement.

You will be an experienced and values-led leader with strong judgement, excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and deliver outcomes in a complex organisational environment.

You will bring experience in leading teams in fields of risk management, business assurance, internal audit and/or corporate integrity.

What you will bring

- A tertiary qualification in Business Management, Commerce, Risk Management, Law or another relevant discipline.
- Experience in leading risk management, internal audit, corporate governance and/or business continuity functions, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience in facilitating organisation-wide claims management, insurance policies, risk profiles/registers, and risk reporting.
- Experience in leading and mentoring teams to deliver demonstrated and enduring high-quality outcomes.
- Strong relationship management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to integrity, accountability, inclusion, respect and continuous improvement.
- Public sector experience will be highly regarded, however candidates with strong risk, assurance or integrity background in complex or large regulated organisations are encouraged to apply.
