Rocky Ridge Brewing
Western Australia
Rocky Ridge is a family-farm brewery out of Jindong in WA's south west. We make bloody good beer, and we run venues that do it justice. Our Duncraig Taphouse pours 40 taps of our finest, has a great kitchen team and an epic bunch of locals.
We're after a full-time Duty Manager to run the floor alongside our Venue Manager. It comes with beer training straight from our Head Brewer, Ross Terlick, brew days at the farm brewery in Jindong, and staff discounts on food and beer — the upside of working for a brewery and not just a bar. We want you to know the beers better than anybody.
What we're about
We're looking to develop career hospitality crew. People who care about excellent service, who are quick to act, and who hold themselves and the team around them to a very high standard.
We aim for that standard whether it's a steady weekday lunch or a bustling Saturday night dinner — on the front foot, anticipating what our patrons need before they have to ask.
That's the job. Not just getting through service, but setting the level everyone else works to.
What you'll be doing
Running the floor on shift: sections, delegation, keeping bar, floor and kitchen talking to each other
Training and mentoring the FOH crew — our casuals learn what good service looks like from you
Opening and closing to standard
Making live labour calls — who stays, who goes home, keeping wage cost honest against the trade in front of you
Pouring and serving to standard, and knowing the tap list well enough to actually sell it
Handling complaints calmly and fixing them on the spot, plus keeping an eye on reviews and feedback
Keeping the venue safe — spills, hazards, the boring stuff that matters
Assisting with cleaning and maintaining the venue to a very high standard
Having real input into how the venue runs, what we serve and how it feels
Who we're after
Leads from the front and is on the floor when it counts
Has an eye for detail — notices the wobbly table and the glass that isn't quite clean, and sorts it before a customer has to mention it
Solves problems on the floor rather than escalatng them
Holds a standard without needing to be the loudest person in the room — calm when it's slammed, switched on when it's quiet
Builds genuine rapport with regulars and with the team
Some craft beer knowledge is preferred. What matters more is how you carry yourself — calm and consistent beats loud and patchy every time.
Where this goes
With three venues online in WA, a venue in Brunswick VIC and a fourth WA venue coming soon, there are real opportunities to move up within the brand as openings come.
As part of your development we'd work towards training you on the duties of a Venue Manager — so you can cover while the VM is on leave, and so you're ready when the next step opens up. We'd rather grow our next VM than advertise for one.
