Position: 2 x Senior Parks Infrastructure Planner Full Time - 24-month contract role
Salary from: Level 6, $108,354.51 + superannuation
We have an exciting opportunity for 2x Senior Parks Infrastructure Planner to join the Parks Branch within Council.
The Parks Branch is responsible for planning, developing and managing Council's parks and open space network to meet the needs of our growing community. Working within a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment, the branch is focused on delivering high-quality recreational spaces, strategic infrastructure outcomes, and sustainable park networks that enhance the liveability of our city.
As a key specialist role, the Senior Parks Infrastructure Planner will provide strategic advice and leadership in relation to the planning, development and optimisation of Council's parks and open space infrastructure network. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure parks infrastructure planning aligns with Council's infrastructure planning frameworks, including the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP), and supports current and future community needs.
Position Responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and review of parks and open space strategies, plans and policies aligned with infrastructure planning principles.
- Provide specialist advice on long-term infrastructure planning, network optimisation, demand forecasting and growth management.
- Contribute to the preparation and implementation of structure plans, master plans and strategic planning projects.
- Coordinate parks and open space infrastructure planning inputs into the Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) and Planning Scheme.
- Analyse population growth, service demand, catchments, provision standards and network performance to inform future infrastructure planning.
- Oversee planning processes associated with parkland acquisition, rationalisation and network optimisation.
- Prepare complex reports, technical advice and recommendations relating to parks infrastructure planning.
- Maintain and improve parks infrastructure planning datasets, GIS mapping and network planning information.
- Represent the Parks Branch on multidisciplinary projects and working groups across Council.
- Build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver positive community outcomes.
- Provide mentoring, guidance and technical expertise to team members on complex planning matters.
Key indicators for success:
- Degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture, Landscape Planning, Open Space Planning or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic infrastructure planning, parks planning, open space planning, urban planning or a related field.
- Sound understanding of infrastructure planning principles, including demand forecasting, growth management and network planning.
- Demonstrated knowledge of planning legislation, policy frameworks and regulatory requirements, preferably within Queensland's planning system.
- Proven ability to develop strategic plans, policies and infrastructure planning documentation.
- Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting and managing data to support evidence-based decision making.
- Demonstrated experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to build productive stakeholder relationships and negotiate positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Experience mentoring and supporting colleagues in a professional environment.
- Current Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
- Current working rights for Australia.
