About our service
At One Tree Puckapunyal, relationships are at the heart of the work we do. Our service supports Defence children and families, providing a welcoming place where children can feel safe, build friendships and grow in confidence.

About your role
As Director, you’ll guide the day-to-day operation of the service, bringing together quality education and care, a supported team and strong relationships with families.
You’ll be a visible and approachable leader who takes time to listen, provides clear direction and helps educators build their confidence. From mentoring a Room Leader to welcoming a new family, your approach will help set the tone for the whole service.
Working with your leadership team, you’ll oversee staffing, rosters, budgets and service administration, while keeping children’s safety, wellbeing and learning at the centre of decisions. You’ll guide continuous improvement, support inclusive practice and help your team meet the National Quality Framework and service requirements.
You’ll also work closely with Defence and local community contacts, building relationships that respond to families’ needs and strengthen their connection to the service.
What you’ll bring
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or a relevant higher qualification
- Experience leading an early childhood service, or substantial leadership experience and readiness to step into a Director role
- The ability to mentor educators, support Room Leaders and build a positive team culture
- A strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standard and National Quality Framework
- Confidence managing staffing, rosters, budgets and the daily operation of a service
- A commitment to child safety, inclusive practice and continuous improvement
- Transparent, thoughtful communication and the ability to build trust with families and colleagues
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the experiences of Defence families
- Current Working with Children Check and Police Clearance
