As a Food Services Officer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of patients and staff across Tasmania’s public hospitals and health facilities. The team works collaboratively to ensure the safe preparation, handling, and delivery of nutritious meals that meet diverse dietary and clinical needs.
The Team
As a Food Services Officer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team that plays a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of patients and staff across Tasmania’s public hospitals and health facilities. The team works collaboratively to ensure the safe preparation, handling, and delivery of nutritious meals that meet diverse dietary and clinical needs. With a solid focus on hygiene, efficiency, and teamwork, the Food Services team contributes directly to patient care and recovery in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
The Role
- Assist in maintaining a high standard of food preparation, production, service, meal distribution, ware-washing, and cleaning of the hospital service areas and in accordance with the relevant codes of practice.
- Check patient identification is correct prior to delivering/distributing meals and observe all dietary restrictions allocated to patients.
- Perform receipt and storage duties associated with food supplies in line with food safety guidelines.
You will need
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in food preparation and production, cook-chill procedures and working within a large organisation.
- Understanding of general food handling and food hygiene regulations and proven ability to maintain all work areas and equipment in a hygienic state,
including maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance in accordance with food services policies.
- Good communication skills with a proven ability to understand both written and verbal instructions and cooperate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
Details of appointment
Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
$59,668 to $65,185 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance withthe Health and Human Services (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
