The 4 Aussie Heroes Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable Foundation dedicated to supporting first responder and military personnel affected by PTSD and trauma.
At the heart of our mission is the “James Frizelle Camp Courage” , a unique 17 building, 25-acre rural retreat located near Peak Crossing, Queensland. Through our nationally recognised 11-Day “Triumph over Trauma” Program , we provide life-changing support for current and former first responder and military personnel seeking a pathway forward.
We are seeking a dedicated and capable Grounds & Property Maintenance Person to take ownership of the presentation and maintenance of “Camp Courage”.
This is much more than a mowing or gardening role.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working outdoors, can operate independently and wants to contribute to something that genuinely makes a difference.
You will be trusted to work autonomously, plan and ensure all maintenance activities are completed to a high standard and on time.
Maintaining a safe, professional and welcoming environment for our Participants is critical to the success of our Programs.
Responsibilities Include
- Extensive mowing and brush cutting across the property
- Grounds maintenance and property presentation, including weed control
- General building maintenance and minor repairs
- Machinery, vehicle and equipment servicing and upkeep
- Planning and scheduling maintenance activities
- Maintaining maintenance records and reporting
- Managing workplace safety within your area of responsibility
- Identifying and addressing maintenance issues proactively
About You

- Can work independently without constant supervision

- Understands the importance of confidentiality and discretion
- Enjoys working in a peaceful rural environment
- Leads by example and takes ownership of outcomes
- Current driver's licence
- Experience operating ride-on and zero turn mowers and brush cutters
- Property maintenance experience
- Machinery maintenance skills
- Planning and scheduling experience
- Ability to work autonomously
- National Police Check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical
- Ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
- Strong employment references
- Full Australian working rights
- Chainsaw experience
Highly Desirable
- Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) accreditation (??)
- Trade qualification in Carpentry, Landscaping, Horticulture, Mechanical, Rural Operations or similar
- Experience working with volunteers
- First responder or military background or some connection to this demographic

- Full-time permanent position following probation
- Monday to Friday employment with occasional weekend work
- Typical hours 7:30am to 4:00pm but open to considering other time ranges
