Make a real difference in the Murweh community. As our Compliance Officer, you'll play a key role in local laws, animal management, food safety, pool safety and development compliance — helping keep our region safe and well-regulated.
We're after a qualified, community-minded person with strong communication skills, someone who can build positive relationships and confidently support Council's health, safety and wellbeing initiatives.
What you'll need — Essential:
- Current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- Current Queensland Firearms Licence (or ability to obtain)
- Experience handling and keeping domestic animals and livestock
- Ability to read, interpret and apply relevant legislation and Local Laws
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage challenging situations
- Proven ability to prepare clear, accurate compliance reports, notices and correspondence
- High-level organisational skills,
with the ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Competency in Microsoft Office and relevant compliance/records systems
Nice to have — Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations Regulatory Compliance (or similar)
- Knowledge of building legislation (Building Act, Building Code of Australia, Planning Act) and local government compliance functions
- Previous experience in local government or regulatory enforcement
- Experience using Body Worn Cameras
- Experience conducting investigations and enforcement actions relating to compliance
