The Role

We’re looking for an Experienced Drafter to join our Roads & Highways team in Townsville, supporting the delivery of major transport infrastructure projects across Australia.

In this role,



you will be responsible for producing high-quality drafting and documentation outputs, ensuring alignment with SMEC and client standards while contributing to efficient, coordinated project delivery.

You’ll work closely with engineers, designers, and project teams in a collaborative, digitally enabled environment, playing a key role in delivering buildable, compliant design documentation for road, highway, and civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Produce detailed 2D drawings for roads, highways, and civil infrastructure projects
- Deliver construction-level documentation in line with project requirements
- Apply SMEC drafting standards, QA processes, and client specifications
- Manage drawing outputs within project timelines and milestones
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design delivery
- Maintain and manage data within Common Data Environments (e.g. ProjectWise or similar)
- Undertake checking and review of drawings to ensure quality and accuracy
- Support continuous improvement in digital delivery and drafting practices

About You

You’re a capable and detail-oriented drafter with experience working on transport infrastructure projects, ideally within roads, highways, or broader civil infrastructure environments.

You bring:

- 3-7 years of demonstrated experience as a Drafter within roads, highways, civil, or infrastructure projects
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
- Experience delivering detailed design and construction documentation




- Understanding of drafting standards, QA processes, and model coordination
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet project deadlines
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach
- Experience working within digital delivery environments and across multidisciplinary teams will be highly regarded
- Familiarity with Austroads standards, road design documentation, and major transport infrastructure projects will be viewed favourably
