Intermediate Business Services Accountant

Key responsibilities

- Complete BAS and other relevant compliance work
- Prepare complete and accurate working papers
- Ensure all work complies with current Australian taxation legislation and accounting standards
- Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
- Preparation and review of management reports as required
- Implementing Xero and Payroll set up for current clients
- Liaising directly with clients, the ATO and other external parties
- Assisting with client queries and identifying issues that require further advice
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
- Managing your own workflow and meeting lodgement and client deadlines

About you

- 2+ years' experience in Australian accounting/public practice
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
- Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for a range of entities
- A good understanding of Australian taxation, compliance requirements and current legislation
- Experience with accounting and tax software such as Xero and MYOB
- Strong attention to detail and time-management skills
- Confidence communicating with clients and colleagues




- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to independently prepare tax returns and financial statements for companies, trusts and sole traders
- Study support towards CA/CPA qualification
- Exposure to a variety of industries and clients
- Mentorship and on-the-job training from an experienced accountant
