The Practice Lead - Hybrid Cloud is a senior, multi-disciplinary leadership role responsible for the commercial success, technical excellence and people leadership of Empyrean IT's Hybrid Cloud Practice. This role blends presales and client engagement, hands-on technical delivery and oversight, team leadership and development, and full accountability for growing a profitable, sustainable practice.

Key responsibilities

- Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients and the Sales team, supporting the qualification and shaping of Hybrid Cloud opportunities.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, design workshops and solution presentations that clearly articulate business value.
- Develop scopes of work, solution architectures, statements of work and commercial proposals in collaboration with Sales and Project Delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors (VMware, Microsoft, backup/DR and networking/security partners) to support solution design and commercial outcomes.
- Represent Empyrean IT credibly in client and industry forums as a subject matter expert in hybrid cloud and infrastructure.
- Provide technical leadership and quality assurance across all Hybrid Cloud engagements, from design through to delivery and handover.
- Maintain and evolve reference architectures, standards and best practices across on-premises servers and storage, VMware and Hyper-V, networking, firewalls, backup and disaster recovery, and Azure.
- Lead,



mentor and develop a team of technical consultants and engineers, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Own the commercial performance of the Hybrid Cloud Practice, including revenue growth, utilisation, margin and profitability targets.
- Develop and execute a practice growth strategy aligned to Empyrean IT's broader business objectives and market positioning.

About you

- Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role within an IT consultancy, managed services provider or similar client-facing environment.
- Strong hands-on technical proficiency across Azure, on-premises infrastructure, VMware and/or Hyper-V, networking, firewalls and backup/DR.
- Demonstrated experience in presales, solution design and technical proposal development.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing technical teams.
- Commercial acumen, with experience managing budgets, margin and practice or team profitability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- A highly driven, self-motivated approach with a genuine desire to build and grow a practice.
