THE ROLE

Bring language learning to life at Ipswich Junior Grammar School. We are seeking an enthusiastic Chinese Language Teacher to join our Junior School for Term 1, 2027, while a staff member is on leave. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Junior School, you will create engaging learning experiences that build students’ confidence,



curiosity and appreciation of Chinese language and culture.

This fixed-term opportunity will see you deliver an inclusive and contemporary Chinese language program, use evidence and insight to shape your teaching, and work collaboratively with colleagues and families to support student learning and engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

- Plan and deliver purposeful, engaging and differentiated Chinese language learning aligned with the Australian Curriculum and School frameworks.
- Develop students’ communication skills and deepen their understanding of Chinese language and culture.
- Use assessment and feedback to monitor progress and support each learner’s growth.
- Create a positive, inclusive and well‑managed learning environment where students feel safe, known and inspired to participate.
- Build trusted partnerships with students, families and colleagues and contribute enthusiastically to the wider life of the School.

You are an engaging educator who brings energy, creativity and care to language learning. You connect easily with students and colleagues and are excited by the opportunity to foster confidence, curiosity and cultural understanding. You’ll bring:

- Relevant qualifications and demonstrated capability to teach Chinese language in a school setting.




- Strong knowledge of the Australian Curriculum and the ability to create engaging, responsive and differentiated language learning.
- Contemporary teaching practice, sound judgement and effective classroom management.
- Confidence using digital technologies to enrich learning and strengthen communication.
- Warm, clear and highly effective communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers and unrestricted working rights in Australia.
