Karara Mining Limited (KML) is an Ansteel Group company formed as a joint venture with Gindalbie Metals Limited. Ansteel is one of the largest iron ore producers and steel makers in China. Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. It produces a premium, high-grade concentrate product for export to steelmakers.

The opportunity

n

We are seeking a Rail Operator Maintainer preferably with a Track Infrastructure background to support safe, efficient train operations at Karara. The role focuses on coordinating train load-outs, managing stockpiles, overseeing blending, sampling, and reporting product movements, with scheduled periods assisting in track maintenance.

This position operates on a continuous shift roster and requires successful completion of a Category 1 Rail Medical, including drug and alcohol testing.

n

Operating on an 8 days on and 6 days off roster - FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

n

To be successful in the role, the following is essential:

n

- ARC Infrastructure Track Accreditation (PO, POLO, POTV)
n
- Track maintenance and/or rail operations experience
n
- WA Driver's Licence
n
- Intermediate computer skills (email, data entry, Excel, etc.)
n
- National Police Clearance
n

n

Key Duties include (but are not limited to):

n

n
- Manage train loading area operations, including train movements, loading activities, and efficient supply of trains to the port
n
- Compile daily production data for rail operations, train loading, and stockpiling
n
- Ensure contractor train loading and stockpile activities are conducted efficiently and within target KPIs
n
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve operational plans and targets
n
- Assist with rail infrastructure inspections and maintenance to ensure a secure and reliable rail system
n
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency
n
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Line Manager in line with skills and competency
n

The ideal candidate will be able to work shift rosters, with robust problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, proven capability in coordinating multiple aspects of the supply chain, and solid logistics experience.
