We are excited to offer the opportunity of working within our Parish in the role of Pastoral Assistant
The Holy Trinity Parish, is a well-respected, dynamic and vibrant Parish in the South-Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. It comprises three worshiping centers: St Peter's, East Bentleigh, St Paul's Bentleigh, and St Catherine's Moorabbin.
The goal of Pastoral Assistants is to assist the Pastoral Coordinator and Parish Priest, Assistant priests, in inspiring and spreading Christ's love and welcoming all into our Parish community. Holy Trinity achieves this goal by implementing the principles, practices and teachings of the Catholic Church.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assisting the Pastoral Co-ordinator with
Liturgy
- Parish Liturgical Teams in the preparations of Mass materials (commentaries, prayers of the faithful, Power Point slides) for the 7 weekend Masses across three centres;
- supporting Liturgical Teams, Mass coordinators, Music providers in their assigned work;
- planning ceremonies of the church's major liturgical seasons;
- planning, and developing training programs for volunteers who work in the liturgical area
Funerals
- Coordinating funerals arrangements
- Meeting with families and assisting in the preparation of the funeral ceremony;
Sacraments
- facilitating the work of RCIA, RCIC, with volunteer support;
- preparation for baptisms, and assists in marriage preparation;
- Liaising with Parish REL's regarding the school based sacramental program;
Community Outreach
- Coordinating pastoral visitation programs and the distribution of Holy Communion
- Overseeing outreach initiatives for new and re-engaging established parishioners;
Faith Formation & Volunteer Coordination
- Supporting volunteer-led Alpha, Catholic Kids, and Adult faith formation programs;
- Safeguarding compliance, maintaining records, preparing reports for Parish Bulletin;
- Supporting Sunday worshipping community and enhance their involvement in Parish Life
- Be the first point of contact for pastoral initiatives and pastoral needs coming in and out of parish life
- Receiving allocation of duties from the Pastoral Coordinator;
- Attending regular meetings with Pastoral Coordinator
WHAT YOU BRING
- Be a practising and committed Catholic;
- Relevant qualifications in theology and /or pastoral studies;
- Experience in leadership in a Parish environment;
- A current Driver Licence and vehicle;
- Working with Children and Police check;
- Capable and willing to develop effective working relationships with the Parish Coordinator, Parish Priest, and Associate Priests, staff and volunteers;
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with healthy, skilled boundaries
