Shape the Future of Glenorchy's Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Civil Design to lead Council's Civil Design and Survey functions and play a pivotal role in delivering Glenorchy City's infrastructure program.

About The Role

As the Coordinator Civil Design, you will:

- Lead and manage the Civil Design and Survey team, providing direction, coaching and support to employees.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities, resource allocation and workflow management to ensure timely and customer-focused outcomes.
- Oversee the investigation, scoping, design and preparation of drawings, estimates and reports for civil infrastructure projects.
- Manage design of projects across a diverse range of areas including roads, car parks, traffic management, pedestrian accessibility, lighting, stormwater, structural works, landscaping and recreational infrastructure.
- Represent the Civil Design function on corporate and external project teams, working groups and committees.
- Liaise with construction teams, consultants, contractors and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Undertake peer reviews of designs to ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications and legislation.
- Prepare and administer consultancy agreements and civil engineering contracts.
- Contribute to future capital works planning through concept investigations, preliminary designs and project cost estimates.
- Monitor project budgets and reporting requirements, including financial variance reporting and procurement activities.
- Promote continuous improvement and high standards of design and associated documentation and business processes
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team environment.

About You

You’ll bring:

- Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering Design or an equivalent/higher qualification in a relevant field, or extensive relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading civil design projects and technical teams in local government, consulting or civil infrastructure environments.




- Extensive knowledge of civil engineering standards, specifications and best practice design principles.
- Experience using engineering design software, preferably Civil 3D and Civil Site Design.
- Robust project management, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build solid stakeholder relationships.
- Proven leadership experience including performance management, coaching and staff development.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes within tight deadlines.

Position Details

- Permanent Full-Time, 76 hours per fortnight
- Annual Salary $125,000
