Field Technician - Sydney Water Peg Outs & Inspections

MGP Building & Infrastructure Services Pty Ltd – Frenchs Forest NSW

You’ll become an important part of the Sydney Water team, working across a variety of residential and commercial development projects throughout Sydney. This is a practical role working on construction sites, assisting with Sydney Water peg outs, asset locating and construction/minor works inspections. The role will involve a combination of site work and time in the Frenchs Forest office, with the opportunity for more office-based work increasing as you become familiar with systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

- Attend sites to undertake Sydney Water asset peg outs, locating and recording the position, depth and alignment of water, stormwater and sewer assets using surveying, locating and measuring equipment to accurately capture site information
- Undertake construction and minor works inspections, inspecting works such as piering, concrete encasements and works around Sydney Water assets
- Take site measurements, photographs and field notes
- Work with builders, accredited constructors, engineers and other site personnel
- Record and communicate findings back to the MGP team
- Assist with reports and documentation where required
- Become familiar with Sydney Water requirements and MGP’s established processes

About you

- Solid practical experience using surveying or locating equipment
- Understanding of construction sites and ability to confidently work out what you’re looking at in the field
- Practical, reliable, observant and comfortable dealing with people on site
- Ability to look at a situation,



understand what you’re seeing, take accurate information and communicate it clearly
- Experience with service/utility locating equipment (Sonde) highly regarded
- Experience with civil construction set-out highly regarded
- Experience with water, stormwater or sewer infrastructure highly regarded
- Experience with Sydney Water assets or processes highly regarded
- Experience with construction inspections highly regarded
- Ability to read civil, architectural or structural drawings highly regarded
