Service Stream's VRMC team are on the hunt for a Maintenance Scheduler to join our Clayton team!

Reporting to the Network Intelligence & Operations Centre (NIOC) Manager, the Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for converting planned and approved work into efficient, achievable and optimised schedules for the Delivery Teams. This role plays a critical part in ensuring defect, hazard and planned maintenance activities are scheduled in accordance with contractual requirements, program commitments, resource availability and operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining daily, weekly and forward work schedules for VRMC maintenance activities, including hazard, defect and planned maintenance work.
- Reviewing planned and released work to ensure it is ready for scheduling, with all required information, resources, access requirements and dependencies identified.
- Allocating work to internal Delivery Teams and Delivery Partners based on capability, capacity, geographical location, priority and program requirements.
- Optimising the sequencing of work to maximise labour, plant and resource utilisation while minimising travel, downtime and disruption to road users.
- Managing the daily and weekly schedule to ensure contractual response times, maintenance programs and delivery commitments are achieved.
- Monitoring workforce and Delivery Partner capacity and proactively identifying scheduling constraints,
resource shortages and potential delivery risks.
- Working closely with the Planning Team to resolve incomplete, unsuitable or unready work before it impacts the schedule.
- Liaising with Delivery Teams and Work Management Officers to manage changes, emerging priorities, unplanned work and schedule disruptions.
- Balancing urgent hazard work with planned and programmed maintenance activities to maintain an effective and achievable delivery program.
- Updating and maintaining scheduling information within the Work Management Information System (JAMS) to ensure schedule status and work allocation information is accurate and current.
- Ensuring all scheduling activities are undertaken in accordance with contractual requirements, Service Stream processes and the Transport Operating Model (TOM).
About You
- Experience in scheduling, resource coordination or operational planning within a road maintenance, civil construction, infrastructure or similar operational environment.
- Ability to understand cost implication of a programmed schedule and provide justification.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness and an understanding of how scheduling decisions impact labour, plant, subcontractor and overall delivery costs.
- Ability to balance operational priorities, service requirements, resource availability and cost considerations when making scheduling decisions.
- Experience identifying opportunities to improve productivity,
resource utilisation and cost efficiency within an operational or field-based environment.
- Managing various internal and external stakeholders with good communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and manage daily and weekly work schedules in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Experience using work management, scheduling or enterprise systems to manage work programs and resources.
- Good understanding of civil construction, road maintenance or field-based operational activities.
- Formal qualifications (Cert IV or higher) in a technical discipline are a bonus, but not essential if you can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and capability.
