The Principal Environmental Approvals Consultant will help grow the business through strategic business development and promotions. They will act as Project Manager and/or technical expert and work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality environmental projects, with a focus on environmental impact assessments and regulatory approvals. To provide expertise, ingenuity and judgement in the water and environment field.
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform high quality and professional technical work involving considerable independence in approach, and a high degree of originality, ingenuity and judgement.
2. Serve as a technical specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles and methods relating to environmental approvals and environmental management.
3. Supervise and review the work of other environmental consultants.
4. Share knowledge and acts as mentor within the environmental approvals area of the business and with collaborating technical specialists.
5. Adhere to, and actively promote,
quality, safety and environmental procedures/standards.
6. Liaise with clients, prospective and current, for the purposes of work generation, service delivery, networking and business development.
7. Prepare, review and submit proposals / tenders.
8. Project manage a range of projects to scope and within time, cost and quality requirements, including budgeting, scheduling, scoping and managing multidisciplinary teams.
9. Contribute to thought leadership activities through their work and by regularly authoring papers and social media posts.
10. Specific tasks include leading and preparing to:
- Environmental impact and/or feasibility assessments.
- Environmental management plans.
- Environmental risk assessments.
- Environmental planning and auditing.
- Preparing and lodging environmental approval applications, including liaison with regulators, local government and/or other relevant stakeholders.
- Developing knowledge of environmental policies and providing strategic thinking in the context of environmental approvals.
- Preparing reports associated with the above.
- Leading and preparing bids/tenders.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Planning, Engineering or other relevant area of study.
- More than 20 years’ experience post-graduation.
- Robust technical background in environmental consulting
- Existing client network in environmental policy, assessment and approvals
- Experience working within a multi-site organisation.
- Experience working within the engineering or resources sector.
- Post-graduate qualifications in environmental management or other relevant area of study
- Demonstrated business development skills
- Demonstrates initiative and takes a proactive approach to tasks.
- Willingness for travel across WA, interstate, and internationally, to satisfy the requirements of projects and the position
- Client focused and commercially aware.
