Job Description

Randstad is currently working with a Higher Education Client to find a Senior Business Analyst on an initial 12 month contract with potential of extension. This role is based in Brisbane with WFH flexibility.

Role: Senior Business Analyst Client Industry: Higher Education Contract Length: 12 Months with potential of extension Location: Brisbane with WFH flexibility Pay Rate: $862.86 + Super per day ($966.40 a day inclusive of super)

Position Overview: The Senior Business Analyst independently identifies, defines, and scopes complex business problems and translates them into clear, evidence-based recommendations, requirements, and solution designs.

Working across the full project lifecycle, this role navigates ambiguity to bridge the gap between business needs and technology execution. The position collaborates closely with stakeholders, solution architects, technology suppliers, developers, and project managers to optimise system performance, improve data integrity, and ensure the delivery of high-quality IT solutions.

Key Duties:

Project Initiation & Problem Definition: Lead early-stage scoping to define problem statements, objectives, benefits, success criteria, and stakeholder landscapes for both functional and non-functional requirements.

Requirements Elicitation & Management: Gather, analyse, and document traceable functional, non-functional, technical,



and integration specifications (including user stories and acceptance criteria).

Process Mapping & Solution Design: Undertake as-is and to-be process modeling using BPMN 2.0. Develop conceptual designs, complex workflows, system integrations, and system-generated reports.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Facilitate workshops, negotiate outcomes, and translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and senior executives.

Testing, Change & Post-Implementation: Define acceptance criteria to support UAT, functional, and integration testing. Assist with change readiness, hypercare support, defect triage, and benefits realisation reviews.

Documentation & Artefact Creation: Produce high-quality business cases, feasibility assessments, technical specs, executive briefings, and training materials using Confluence and Jira.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following:

Education & Experience: Postgraduate qualifications in IT (or equivalent progress/experience) paired with extensive experience delivering business analysis within large, complex organizational environments.

Problem Solving & Ambiguity: Proven ability to independently break down complex business problems, conduct root-cause analysis,



and evaluate options with a high degree of critical thinking.

Requirements & Design: Demonstrated track record in end-to-end requirements elicitation (functional, non-functional, and technical) and translating business needs into architecture-compliant designs.

Process Modeling: Hands-on experience mapping current and future-state processes using Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) standards.

Stakeholder & Executive Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present complex insights to diverse audiences, including senior executives.

Delivery & Autonomy: Strong self-management skills to prioritise workloads, manage dependencies, and drive initiatives across the full project lifecycle independently.

Desirable Criteria: Formal BA Accreditation (e.g., IIBA, BABOK, Agile BA). Recognized certification in BPMN 2.0.

Experience working within Agile or hybrid ICT governance frameworks in a university or higher education setting. Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
