Practice Information

This Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service provides access to comprehensive primary healthcare within a culturally appropriate, safe, patient-centred and equitable environment. Services are 100% bulk billed and available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and eligible family members.

The multidisciplinary service offers a broad range of healthcare programs including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Checks, chronic disease management, child and maternal health, community pharmacy services, dietetics, audiology, optometry, immunisations, men's and women's health, pain management, psychology, social and emotional wellbeing programs, smoking cessation support, transport assistance and respiratory management.

Position Description

This position is responsible for working with the Practice Manager and contributing to the clinical governance of the health service while providing expertise in the delivery of comprehensive primary healthcare services.

The successful candidate will contribute to, and in some cases lead, clinical quality and safety initiatives, foster a culture of continuous quality improvement,



and provide General Practitioner services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team operating within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service environment.

Position Requirements

- Passion for supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- Minimum five years post-graduate experience in a primary care setting or similar
- Eligibility to obtain provider numbers in the required location
- Demonstrated clinical experience and ability to contribute effectively within a medical or primary healthcare team
- Ability to plan, coordinate and manage workloads to achieve outcomes
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Ability to undertake comprehensive patient assessments and develop appropriate treatment and referral pathways
- Experience contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement and best practice initiatives
- Sound theoretical knowledge, clinical skills and ethical practice
- Knowledge of and experience with the Medicare Benefits Schedule
- Commitment to teamwork, respect, empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to build strong community relationships
