About the Roles
City of Parramatta is seeking passionate & experienced planning professionals to join our Development Assessment team across four (4) permanent full-time opportunities:
- Two (2) Senior Development Assessment Officer
- Two (2) Development Assessment Officer
In these roles, you will assess development applications, provide quality planning advice, manage stakeholder expectations and prepare clear, high-quality reports that support positive planning and design outcomes for the Parramatta community.
You will also project manage applications efficiently and identify practical solutions to complex development matters across a diverse range of proposals.
Senior Development Assessment Officers will take on additional responsibilities, including mentoring student and junior planners, representing Council in external planning forums and stepping into Team Leader duties when required.
About You
You will bring proven experience assessing, managing and processing Development Applications in a diverse environment, supported by strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare high-quality reports.
For the Senior Development Assessment Officer role, you will need at least five years’ relevant experience, strong report and submission writing skills, and experience managing and acting in appeals in the NSW Land and Environment Court.
For the Development Assessment Officer role, you will demonstrate sound experience in development assessment and a customer-focused approach to providing transparent, practical planning advice.
All applicants must meet the essential requirements in the relevant Position Description, including a degree in Town Planning or a related field and a current Class C Driver Licence.

What’s on Offer
We are offering competitive remuneration packages for each role:
- Senior Development Assessment Officer: $126,222.38 to $138,997.20 plus 12% superannuation,
- Development Assessment Officer: $108,795.03 to $119,781.85 plus 12% superannuation.
There are two permanent full-time opportunities available for each role. A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicants.
