About the role
You'll help keep our fish healthy and our farm running smoothly. This is a hands-on, physically demanding role involving wet work, repetitive tasks and regular cleaning. Keeping the farm clean and completing routine jobs properly are essential parts of the position.
Key responsibilities
- Feeding fish and observing their behaviour and health
- Testing and recording water quality
- Hand grading fish by size
- Hand harvesting and handling fish carefully
- Basic filter maintenance and equipment checks
- Cleaning tanks, equipment and work areas
- Entering accurate records in Microsoft Excel
- Reporting problems, changes and unfinished work promptly
About you
- Reliability: you turn up on time, ready to work
- Initiative: once trained, you recognise what needs doing and get on with it
- Excellent communication: you ask when unsure, give explicit updates and flag problems early
- Physical capability: you can safely manage the lifting, standing and manual handling involved
- Computer skills: you're comfortable using Microsoft Excel for data entry and basic spreadsheets
- Attention to detail: you follow procedures and keep accurate records
- Accountability: you take responsibility for your work and tell us when something hasn't gone to plan
- Willingness to learn: you listen, apply feedback and build your skills
About us
The IKA Foundry grows Queensland giant groper in a state-of-the-art indoor recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), producing 150 tonnes per year.
