About the role
The Restoration Technician – Senior is responsible for the assessment, management and delivery of complex restoration works across residential and commercial properties affected by water, fire, mould, storm and other property damage events. The role independently manages complex restoration projects from initial assessment through to completion, applying advanced technical knowledge and sound professional judgement to determine appropriate restoration methodologies, equipment requirements, scope and sequencing of works.
Key responsibilities
- Independently assess, scope and complete complex makesafe and full restoration works, including water, fire, smoke, mould and structural drying projects, applying advanced technical knowledge and appropriate restoration methodologies in accordance with company procedures, IICRC standards and relevant legislation
- Conduct detailed assessments of complex losses, determine appropriate restoration strategies and make sound technical decisions, recognising situations requiring specialist advice, additional resources or escalation to Supervisors or Managers
- Compile accurate and comprehensive restoration estimates that reflect site conditions, required methodology, labour, equipment, materials and associated works, supported by appropriate measurements, photographs and technical documentation
- Provide practical coaching, technical guidance and mentoring to Entry-level and Intermediate Technicians, support Supervisors and Managers with complex technical assessments and troubleshooting, and promote consistent workmanship, secure work practices and adherence to restoration standards across the field team
- Participate in after-hours, emergency and severe weather response activities where required,
applying technical expertise to support efficient triage, prioritisation and delivery of restoration works in accordance with business and roster requirements
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, identify and escalate risks, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced technicians
About you
- Demonstrated experience in building and contents restoration (residential and commercial) within the insurance industry, with the ability to independently manage complex restoration projects from initial assessment through to completion
- Current WRT, CPT & FSRT as well as AMRT (Applied Microbial Remediation Technician), CDS (Commercial Drying Specialist) and ASD (Applied Structural Drying) certifications
- Asbestos Awareness, Working at Heights and Confined Spaces certification
- Demonstrated ability to accurately compile restoration estimates, including identifying scope, labour, equipment, materials and associated restoration requirements
- Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving and decision-making capability, including the ability to identify complex risks and determine when specialist advice or escalation is required
- Strong communication, documentation and organisational skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients, supervisors, trades and other stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring Entry/Immediate-Level Technicians
- Current drivers licence and white card, with the ability to safely work in challenging environments including damp, dirty, dusty and confined spaces as well as undertake extended travel to job sites, including regional and remote locations and sites exceeding 100km from the technician's usual base
- Desirable: Additional IICRC restoration certifications including carpet, upholstery and hard floor coverings
