ABOUT LIVING FARM

Living Farm is a leading private horticultural and agricultural research, development and extension company conducting over 300 field trials annually across Western Australia. Based in York, we work with major crop protection companies, industry research bodies (HIA, GRDC) and commercial partners to deliver industry-leading horticultural and agricultural research across the state's diverse farming systems.

We're seeking an experienced crop protection specialist, a role that demands technical excellence, commercial acumen, and an ability to independently conduct field research activities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a position for a horticultural agronomist ready to take full ownership of commercial crop protection trials. You'll step straight into managing key client relationships as part of a complex trial program, including crop protection and residue trials.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Engaging in end-to-end delivery of commercial crop protection field trials, including implementation, management and data collection





- Managing key commercial client relationships independently with major crop protection companies

- Designing scientifically robust trial protocols that meet regulatory and client requirements

- Conducting statistical analysis and preparing technical reports for product registration

- Using handheld and ute mounted equipment for trial implementation and management

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You'll bring:

- 2+ years' experience in horticultural and/or agricultural research with significant crop protection trial experience

- Tertiary qualification in Horticulture, Agricultural Science, Agronomy or related field

- Strong knowledge of agricultural chemicals: modes of action, resistance management, stewardship

- Strong statistical capability including ANOVA and experimental design

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to manage competing demands across multiple research projects

- Solid commitment to safety, quality and ethical research practices

Highly desirable:

- Experience with trial software and data systems (ARM, Fastfield, Agworld or similar)

- Current ChemCert accreditation

- Experience with product registration trials and regulatory submissions

- Deep knowledge of WA horticultural farming systems

- Established industry networks within the crop protection sector

- Experience with digital data collection technologies

Extensive regional travel across southwest WA's horticultural and agricultural regions is integral to this role, with regular overnight stays during peak periods. You'll need flexibility for longer hours during busy seasons, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

We expect immediate contribution. Within your first 12 months you'll:

- Begin management of allocated crop protection clients and projects

- Further develop technical knowledge in horticultural crop protection research

- Develop professional relationships with commercial clients and industry representatives

- Contribute to the completion of a high-quality horticultural trials program
