About the role

Working closely with the Tax & Business Services Manager and Directors, you will be responsible for preparing and completing a range of taxation and business services work. This is a hands-on accounting role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys preparing and completing business services and taxation work and is comfortable working independently within an established team.

Key responsibilities

- Preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals

- Preparation of SMSF financial statements and income tax returns

- Preparation and review of BAS and IAS

- Tax reconciliations and year-end workpapers

- Capital gains tax calculations

- Division 7A calculations and reconciliations

- Preparation of depreciation schedules and other supporting workpapers

- Reviewing client accounting records and identifying issues requiring adjustment or further information

- Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve routine queries where required

- Working with Xero and Xero Practice Manager

About you





- Has solid Australian public practice experience in taxation and business services

- Can independently prepare financial statements and tax returns for business clients

- Has strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting requirements

- Is experienced with companies, trusts, individuals and preferably SMSFs

- Has robust Xero skills

- Is organised and able to manage multiple jobs and deadlines

- Produces accurate, well-documented work that is ready for manager review

- Is comfortable working remotely and communicating with other team members

- Takes ownership of jobs and follows matters through to completion
