Non-VR GP / RMO / CMO – Occupational Medicine

Parramatta Medical Clinic is seeking Non-VR GPs, Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) and Career Medical Officers (CMOs) interested in developing a career in Occupational Medicine, Injury Management and Medicolegal Medicine.

This is an opportunity to practise medicine outside the traditional hospital or general practice model, with exposure to workplace injury management, occupational health assessments, multidisciplinary case management and medicolegal work.

The position can be structured on a part-time or full-time basis and is particularly suited to doctors looking to develop occupational medicine as a significant part of their career.

The Role

Your work will include:

- Workers Compensation and CTP injury assessment and management

- Acting as the Nominated Treating Doctor (NTD) for injured workers

- Assessing and certifying work capacity

- Coordinating treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-work plans

- Pre-employment medical assessments

- Health surveillance and occupational medical assessments

- Case conferencing with employers, insurers, rehabilitation providers, allied health practitioners and specialists

- Coordinating multidisciplinary care

- Reviewing investigations and specialist reports

- Completing medical reports and responding to questionnaires from insurers and other stakeholders

The role provides exposure to clinical occupational medicine, injury management, rehabilitation, workplace health and medicolegal medicine.

You will have opportunities to build experience across occupational health, Workers Compensation, CTP injury management, rehabilitation medicine and multidisciplinary case management.

For suitable doctors, there will also be opportunities to progressively upskill under supervision in areas such as:

- Independent Medical Consultant (IMC) assessments

- File reviews and independent medical opinions





- Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) assessments

- Other medicolegal assessment work

For doctors considering specialist training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, the position provides exposure to a broad occupational medicine caseload and the opportunity to develop relevant clinical experience.

Remuneration & Flexibility

$100–$140 per hour, depending on experience and capability.

Flexible part-time and full-time arrangements are available.

Both independent contractor and employee arrangements are available.

The role will initially be predominantly on-site at our Westmead clinic to allow appropriate onboarding, supervision and development of experience in occupational and injury medicine.

Once established in the role, doctors who demonstrate strong clinical judgement, documentation, reliability and the ability to independently manage their caseload may be offered telehealth and work-from-home sessions where clinically appropriate.

As you develop experience and your occupational medicine caseload, there may also be opportunities for suitable doctors to move from fixed hourly remuneration to a percentage-of-billings model, providing the potential for higher earnings.

- Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) with General Registration

- Career Medical Officers (CMOs)

- Doctors transitioning from hospital medicine

- Doctors interested in occupational medicine, rehabilitation or injury management

- Doctors considering future specialist training in Occupational and Environmental Medicine

You will require:

- MBBS or equivalent recognised medical qualification

- Current AHPRA General Registration

- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills

- Good written and verbal communication





- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and non-medical stakeholders

- An interest in occupational medicine and injury management

Previous Workers Compensation, CTP or occupational medicine experience is advantageous but not essential.

Training, supervision and support can be provided to the right candidate.
