About the Role

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and animal-loving Kennel Assistant to join our team. The role involves caring for boarding dogs, maintaining clean and hygienic kennel areas, assisting customers and ensuring all animals are protected, comfortable and well cared for during their stay.

This is a hands-on and physically active role and would suit someone who enjoys working with animals and being outdoors.

Key Responsibilities
Feeding and providing fresh water to dogs according to their individual requirements
Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, yards and common areas
Picking up and disposing of dog waste
Walking and exercising dogs as required
Monitoring dogs throughout the day and reporting any concerns
Checking dogs when they arrive and depart
Bathing and towel-drying dogs when required
Maintaining clean food and water bowls
Cleaning automatic water systems when required
Assisting with customer arrivals and departures
Safely handling dogs of different sizes, breeds and temperaments
Following kennel procedures and animal welfare requirements
Keeping the office, reception and surrounding areas clean and presentable
Working as part of a team and assisting with general kennel duties

Confident handling dogs
Patient, caring and genuinely passionate about animals
Able to follow instructions and work independently
Willing to learn
Able to work efficiently in a busy setting
Friendly and professional with customers
A team player with a positive attitude

Previous kennel or animal-care experience is preferred but not essential, as training can be provided.

Physical Requirements

The role involves:
Standing and walking for extended periods
Bending, lifting and carrying
Cleaning and repetitive physical tasks
Handling dogs of various sizes
Working outdoors in hot, cold and wet conditions

Hours

Casual – approximately 15+ hours per week, with additional hours available during busy periods, weekends, school holidays and peak seasons.
