About the role

You'll take the lead in preparing accurate, competitive tenders for civil groundworks, water, sewer, stormwater and drainage projects. Working closely with our Managing Director, Project Managers, Engineers, suppliers and subcontractors, you'll assess project requirements, identify risks and develop practical construction methodologies and cost estimates. The role will involve office-based estimating and site visits as required.

Key responsibilities
Manage estimates and tender submissions from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover.
Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation to determine scope and requirements.
Prepare quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates for labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Identify project risks, exclusions, assumptions and opportunities for cost savings.
Attend site inspections and tender meetings as required.
Liaise with clients, consultants and the project team to clarify requirements.
Provide clear tender handovers to support successful project delivery.

About you
Substantial civil estimating experience,



with the ability to independently manage complex tenders.
Robust experience estimating Sydney Water, water, sewer and drainage projects highly regarded.
Sound understanding of civil construction methods, deep excavation and working around live services.
A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field, or equivalent practical industry experience.
Robust commercial judgement and attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing tender deadlines.
Solid communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
Sound understanding of WHS requirements and their impact on construction methodology and pricing.
