TRAINEE ACCOUNTANT

Position Purpose

The Trainee Accountant provides day-to-day support to the Finance team across general accounting and administrative activities. This is a junior position with the opportunity to gradually take on additional accounting responsibilities as experience and confidence develop. This role reports to Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist with accounts payable tasks such as processing invoices and assisting with supplier payments. · Assist with employee expense claims and follow up supporting receipts.

· Maintain supplier and customer information in the accounting system.

· Assist with balance sheet reconciliations.

· Prepare and process journal entries under supervision.

· Assist with month-end activities as required.

· Prepare basic reports and spreadsheets for the Finance team.

· Assist with collecting information and supporting documents for audits.

· Coordinate and book employee business travel, including flights and accommodation.

· Maintain finance records, documents and filing.

· Assist with general finance administration as required.

· Provide general support to the wider Finance team.





· Gradually take on additional accounting duties as knowledge and experience develop.

Skills & Experience

· Studying towards or recently completed a qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field. · Basic understanding of accounting principles.

· Good Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.

· Valuable attention to detail and accuracy.

· Valuable organisational and time-management skills.

· Valuable written and verbal communication skills.

· Willingness to learn and develop.

· Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

· Previous office, administration or accounting experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Development of the Role

This position is intended to develop over time. As experience and capability grow, the Trainee Accountant will gradually become involved in additional areas such as month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting, budgeting and other accounting activities, with appropriate training and supervision.
