About the role
n
Mater Private Hospital Gold Coast is seeking a
Clinical Nurse
to work within our
Orthopaedics
team. This position will be employed on a
Temporary part time
basis – 36 hours per week. This position is a maternity leave cover and will run for the duration of 9 months commencing in November. Mater has finalised the strategic acquisition of Healthscope's Gold Coast Private Hospital, this is a significant milestone in Mater's commitment to delivering exceptional and compassionate care to Queensland communities.

Based at our Gold Coast Campus, this role will be part of our state-of-the-art 339 bed facility located in Southport. This facility was established in **** and offers a wide range of specialities across Emergency, Medical Services, Orthopaedics, Bariatrics, Neurosurgery, Plastics, ENT, General Surgery, Obstetrics, Cardiac Care and Oncology.

Salary range: $***** - $***** per hour
plus superannuation
and
access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you'll be doing
n
As a Clinical Nurse within Orthopaedics, you will provide advanced nursing care and clinical leadership to support safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Delivering evidence-based nursing care across the patient journey, from admission through to discharge
n
Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and developing, implementing, and evaluating individualised care plans
n
Collaborating closely with medical, allied health, and nursing colleagues to optimise patient outcomes
n
Supporting patient education, informed consent, and advocacy throughout treatment and recovery
n
Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, safety standards, and best-practice clinical outcomes
n
Providing clinical guidance, support, and mentorship to less experienced staff as required
n
n
About you
n
You are a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a quick-paced surgical environment and is committed to delivering outstanding patient care. You will bring:
n
n
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
n
A minimum of three years' post-registration clinical experience, ideally within orthopaedics or an acute surgical setting
n
Strong clinical assessment, communication, and care coordination skills
n
A commitment to patient-centred care, safety, and Mater's values and behavioural standards
n
The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing clinical priorities
n
Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty (desirable, but not essential)
n
