Job Description
If you're an experienced Project Manager who understands
commercial landscape construction from the ground up
, this is an opportunity to take ownership of quality projects from planning right through to handover.n
nYou'll be joining an established landscape contractor delivering commercial landscape projects across Queensland, with responsibility for the
program, budget, contracts, clients and overall project delivery
.n
nThis isn't a purely office-based Project Manager role. Your practical understanding of how landscape projects are actually built will be important. You'll work closely with Site Managers, Supervisors and subcontractors, providing the commercial leadership and technical direction needed to keep projects moving.n
nThe role requires robust commercial and contract administration capability combined with practical knowledge across both hard and soft landscape construction.n

nAs
Commercial Landscape Project Manager
, you'll take responsibility for the planning, execution and successful delivery of landscape construction projects.n
nYou'll manage projects to ensure they are delivered
on time, within budget and to the required quality standard
, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and your internal project teams.n
nYour responsibilities will include: n
n
Developing project programs, budgets and procurement schedules
n
Planning labour, plant, equipment and subcontractor requirements
n
Managing project costs and protecting project margins
n
Monitoring construction progress against program
n
Managing subcontractors and suppliers
n
Contract administration including RFIs, EOTs and variations
n
Preparing and managing progress claims
n
Identifying commercial and project risks early
n
Managing client relationships and expectations
n
Leading project and progress meetings
n
Coordinating with Site Managers and Supervisors
n
Maintaining accurate project reporting and documentation
n
Managing quality, safety and compliance requirements
n
Taking projects through to successful handover
n
The position has genuine commercial accountability, including cost forecasting, variations, contractual correspondence and ensuring project performance remains aligned with the original tender.n
You'll Know How the Work Is Built

nWe're not looking for someone who manages projects purely from a spreadsheet.n
nYou'll need a sound practical understanding of
commercial landscape construction
and be comfortable providing technical direction to site teams and subcontractors.n
nYour knowledge should extend across areas such as: n

Paving
n
Concrete formwork and placement
n
Retaining walls
n
Blockwork
n
Fencing
n
Irrigation and drainage
n
Setout, levels and falls
n
Soil preparation
n
Planting
n
Turf establishment
n
Construction sequencing and methodology
n
You'll be able to interpret drawings and specifications, identify buildability issues and help resolve technical problems before they impact the program, budget or finished product.n
nCommercial & Contract Managementn
nAlongside the construction knowledge, you'll need to be commercially capable.n
nYou'll be responsible for monitoring project costs against approved budgets, forecasting, reviewing subcontractor and supplier costs and identifying opportunities to protect project margins.n
nYou'll also manage: n

n
Extension of Time submissions
n
Variation claims
n
Progress claims
n
Contractual correspondence
n
Delays and program risks
n
Project records and reporting
n
You'll be expected to identify issues early rather than waiting until they become problems and work closely with senior management and site teams to keep projects commercially and operationally on track. n
nRequirements
About You
n
nYou'll ideally have
at least five years' Project Management experience within commercial landscaping or civil construction
, along with the technical understanding to confidently work with experienced construction teams.n
nWe're looking for someone with: n
n
Strong commercial landscape or civil construction experience
n
Practical knowledge across hard and soft landscaping
n
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
n
Strong project planning and programming skills
n
Budget and cost-management experience
n
Contract administration experience
n
Experience with RFIs, EOTs and variation claims
n
Strong client and stakeholder management skills
n
Experience managing subcontractors and site-based teams
n
Sound understanding of SWMS, quality and construction compliance
n
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
n
Robust communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
n
A qualification in
Landscape Construction, Horticulture, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline
would be highly regarded.n
nExperience delivering landscape construction projects in Queensland, including exposure to
TMR specifications
, would also be advantageous but isn't essential.n

nThis role is also about developing the people around you.n
nWhere a Site Manager is allocated to your project, you'll provide guidance and mentoring, helping them build the skills and commercial understanding required to progress from Site Supervisor towards Project Management.n
