Indian Ocean – Indian Restaurant in Cowes, Phillip Island is seeking a full time Chef to join our team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals, assisting with menu planning, monitoring food quality and presentation, managing food supplies and stock, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities include
Planning menus and estimating food and labour costs.
Ordering food, ingredients and kitchen supplies as required.
Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
Discussing food preparation and kitchen-related issues with management, kitchen staff and waiting staff.
Demonstrating cooking techniques and advising staff on appropriate cooking procedures.
Preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of dishes to a high standard.
Ensuring meals are prepared consistently and presented appropriately.
Explaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness requirements.




Maintaining compliance with applicable food safety and workplace hygiene standards.
Assisting with the selection, supervision and training of kitchen staff where required.
Freezing, preserving and storing food safely and appropriately.
Monitoring stock levels and helping minimise food wastage.
Supporting the efficient and organised operation of the kitchen during busy service periods.

Requirements:
Relevant commercial cookery qualification
Minimum 1 year of relevant Chef experience
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety
Ability to work efficiently in a busy restaurant workplace
Positive communication and teamwork skills

Position: Full-time, ongoing Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week

Location: Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria

Employer-sponsored visa applicants may be considered subject to eligibility and applicable immigration requirements.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $82,000.00 per year
