Family Support Worker - First Nations Identified Position
Bundaberg | Full-Time | Regional Travel Required
Are you passionate about supporting First Nations families to build stronger, safer and healthier futures?
We are seeking a Family Support Worker to provide culturally responsive early intervention, case management and practical support to vulnerable families and clients who may be at risk of entering the child protection system.
Working across Bundaberg, North and South Burnett and the Fraser Coast, this role involves regular travel throughout the service region.
About the role
You will work closely with clients, families, community services and government agencies to provide practical support and coordinated pathways to services.
Key responsibilities include
Providing holistic case management and needs assessments
Delivering early intervention and family support strategies
Supporting families with parenting skills, secure environments and building family capacity
Linking clients with appropriate community, health and wellbeing services
Working collaboratively with Child Safety Service Centres and Regional Intake Services
Building strong qualified relationships with relevant agencies and stakeholders
Maintaining clear, accurate and confidential client records
Supporting clients with referrals, education, practical assistance and approved transport
Participating in case management, supervision, training and debriefing sessions.
About you To be considered, you will have either:
A minimum of 12 months' current relevant experience with appropriate qualifications, or
Approximately two years of extensive relevant experience.
You will also bring
A strong commitment to culturally appropriate support for First Nations individuals, families and communities
Positive communication, interpersonal and time-management skills
Confidence using databases and Microsoft Office
A current driver's licence.
A Senior First Aid Certificate, Blue Card and Federal Police Check are required; however, the position description allows these to be completed upon employment.
A Certificate III or IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care, or current study towards this qualification, is desirable.
