Kitchen Assistant ****
About the Role
This role involves helping serve meals, completing cleaning tasks, and generally supporting the daily operations of the kitchen.
It will be a mix of tasks helping the kitchen across all facets of daily operations — such as serving, cleaning, and other tasks — while meeting all HACCP and OHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring the servery is set up correctly for the dining period
Checking for food safety compliance and ensuring food is correctly stored
Ensuring food is always fresh and inviting
Assisting kitchen staff with various servery tasks and other work as required
Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, and reporting any hazards or faulty/damaged equipment
Ensuring all equipment, pots, pans, utensils, dinnerware, crockery, cutlery and glassware are clean and in valuable working order
Sweeping and mopping floors, keeping them clean and dry, and picking up spills immediately using wet floor signs, dry rags and dry mops
Cleaning walls, tables, racks, sinks, floor mats and the disposal area,
and cleaning and polishing stainless steel
Cleaning the hall and servery areas after each service, to a high standard
Other duties as directed by Leadership
Eligibility
Applicants must be 18 years or older and 2nd or 3rd year Ormond residential student in ****.
Successful applicants will also need to hold or obtain a Food Safety/Handling certificate and a Working with Children Check (Employee), and complete a GBV declaration if successful.
Students may hold a maximum of 2 casual Ormond roles at one time.
