About the role
The Administrative Assistant provides confidential and qualified administrative support to the Michael Rice Centre for Haematology and Oncology.
The position manages enquiries, telephone and paging systems, provides a front-line reception to the department, and ensures prompt referral of patient welfare matters.
Key duties of the role
Provide a front-line reception service to the department
Empathetic and prompt management of enquiries, both face to face and over the telephone
Coordinate ingoing and outgoing phone calls.




Process billings for all appointments using department system.
Providing appropriate support to patients, relatives and visitors.
Skills and Experience
Working independently and within a team environment with the ability to confidently contribute to the team goals and outcomes.
Maintaining sensitive and confidential information and understanding the principles of confidentiality.
Ability to work under limited direction with competing priorities in an adverse, high workflow environment.
Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, staff, external agencies and members of the public.
Utilise judgement to respond to difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and empathy.
