The Department ofPsychologyin theSchool of Science and Technologyat Cape Breton University (CBU) invites applications for aFull-Time Limited Termposition inPsychologyat the rank ofAssistant Professor(or Lecturer depending on qualifications)in anopen area of specialization.
We welcome applications from all areas of psychology and are particularly interested in candidates with strong expertise in research methodology and quantitative analysis.This position will commence January 1, **** to December 24, **** (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The successful candidate will teach a variety of undergraduate courses that fit departmental needs, including Introduction to Psychology, Data Analysis, and Research Methods.
The ability to teach courses in the areas ofresearch methods and data analysisis a requirement.
The ability to teach in additional areas includingadvanced statistics, psychometrics, and courses in the candidate's own area of specializationwould provide additional assets to fit our needs.
The candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate honors thesis students and participate in program development.

TheDepartment of Psychology has9 full time members with 8 tenured or tenure-track faculty memberswhose research spans several fields and who strongly commit to undergraduate teaching and research.




Faculty members may have opportunities to teach in various formats and locations as part of their regular workload.While not all faculty positions will have the same opportunities,applicants can express their willingness to teach in diverse modes and settings.
The successful candidate isexpected to develop a strong research programand shoulddemonstrate their research backgroundand will support their research plans.
The capacity toseek funding for their research program and supervise undergraduate student research assistants in their research programis also expected.
Applicants must demonstrate their research can be successful in the CBU context.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, research/creative/scholarly activities, and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession.
The successful candidate is expected to undertake appropriate service activities within the university community.
Candidates should have a relevant PhD in psychology, with demonstrated strength in research methodology and quantitative analysis.
In exceptional cases, candidates who are in the very late stages of their PhDmaybe considered with the successful completion of the PhD being a condition of employment.
Also, Candidates with a relevant Master's degree who have completed all of the requirements for a relevant PhD but are currently completing their dissertationmaybe considered for the rank of Lecturer.
