At WSP, we're helping deliver the next generation of transmission infrastructure that will power Australia's energy transition. As our Power & Energy team continues to grow, we're seeking an experienced
Associate or Senior Electrical Engineer (EHV)
to provide technical leadership across major transmission and substation projects throughout Australia.
n
Working on projects ranging from
330kV to 500kV
, you'll play a key role in delivering complex substation and transmission solutions while mentoring engineers and contributing to the technical excellence of our national team.
n
What You'll Do
n
In this client-facing technical leadership role, you will:
n
n
Lead the delivery of EHV/HV substation primary design packages from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
n
Provide technical direction, guidance, and mentorship to engineers across the Power & Energy business.
n
Undertake and review technical studies, design calculations, and engineering assessments.
n
Develop substation layouts, equipment arrangements, specifications, and design documentation.
n
Support project teams during design reviews, construction, commissioning, and project delivery phases.
n
Collaborate with clients, utilities, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
n
Contribute to proposals, business development activities, and technical capability initiatives across the business.
n
Support the development of innovative and technically robust solutions for major transmission infrastructure projects.
n

About You
n
You are a highly capable electrical engineer with extensive experience in transmission and substation design, backed by strong technical expertise and a passion for sharing knowledge with others.
n
You'll bring:
n
n
A degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
n
Significant experience delivering HV/EHV substation projects within the power, utilities, or energy sector.
n
Demonstrated expertise working on transmission infrastructure projects in the
330kV to 500kV
range.
n
Hands-on experience undertaking technical studies and engineering calculations, rather than solely reviewing third-party designs.
n
Strong knowledge of: n
n
Conductor and busbar sizing
n
Short-circuit force calculations
n
Lightning protection design
n
Lighting design studies
n
Substation equipment layouts
n
High-voltage equipment specifications
n
HV cable sizing and associated calculations
n
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
A collaborative approach and desire to mentor and develop emerging engineers.
