The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) is looking for aFull-Stack Web Developerto join the Digital Transformation Program in theAustralian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences(ABARES) to work across several data and analytics platforms.
We are looking for aFull-Stack Web Developerwith solid expertise inReact and/or Angularto design, build, and maintain high-quality web applications.
The ideal candidate is experienced in frontend and backend development, follows best practices in software engineering, and can collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
Experience withPythonanddata warehousing conceptsis a plus.
Key duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and enhance web applications based on user needs and team priorities.
Write clean, secure, and well-tested code that is maintainable and reusable.
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Maintain and operate deployed services, proactively identifying and resolving production issues.




Develop intuitive user interfaces and seamless backend integrations.
Contribute to acontinuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD)cadence to ensure rapid and reliable software releases.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong proficiency inReact.js or Angular,including modern features like hooks, context API, and state management.
Experience withbackend development, preferably usingNode.js, Python, or similartechnologies.
Familiarity withSQLand NoSQLdatabasesand experience optimising data storage and retrieval.
Understanding ofdata warehousing conceptsand cloud-based data processing (e.g.,Azure, Databricks).
Experience building and consumingRESTful APIs.
Knowledge of authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT) and security best practices.
Knowledge of Web Apps, Azure Function Apps, and Logic Apps.
Familiarity withDevOps practices, including containerisation (Docker) and cloud deployments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
