Position Summary n
The Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and overseeing the production of high-quality wholefoods restaurant meals while maintaining food safety, kitchen efficiency, and consistent presentation standards. The role requires the ability to manage kitchen operations in a fast-paced restaurant environment with a focus on fresh, healthy, and seasonal menu offerings.
Key Responsibilities n
n
Planning and preparing menu items including breakfast, brunch, lunch meals, salads, sandwiches, baked items, and seasonal specials.
n
Designing and contributing to new menu items and rotating specials in line with customer preferences and wholefoods restaurant concepts.
n
Preparing and cooking food using various cooking techniques including grilling, roasting, baking, poaching, sautéing, and steaming.
n
Ensuring all meals are prepared and presented consistently to a high standard.
n
Monitoring food quality at all stages of preparation and presentation.
n
Managing kitchen operations during busy service periods and coordinating workflow efficiently.
n
Ordering food supplies and kitchen inventory while monitoring stock levels and minimising wastage.
n
Inspecting and maintaining the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensuring proper food storage procedures.
n
Ensuring compliance with NSW food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and workplace health and safety requirements.
n
Supervising and training kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, kitchen procedures, and safe food handling practices.
n
Assisting in rostering and coordinating kitchen staff where required.
n
Monitoring portion control and food costs to assist in maintaining profitability.
n
Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment, workstations, and storage areas.
n
Collaborating with management regarding menu development, seasonal offerings, and operational improvements.
n
Skills And Experience Required n
n
Relevant qualification equivalent to an Australian Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or higher, or at least three years of relevant work experience.
n
Experience working in a café, restaurant, or wholefoods kitchen environment.
n
Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures.
n
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
n
Strong organisational and time management skills.
n
Ability to supervise and work collaboratively with kitchen staff.
n
Knowledge of healthy, fresh, and seasonal food preparation preferred
n
n
Expected Salary: $79,500 - $85,000 AUD per year
