Salary Range: $79,500- $85,000| depending on skills level and work experience + superannuation.

About the Role
On behalf of our client, a dedicated provider of disability and community support services, we are seeking a compassionate and proactive Residential Care Officer. This role is central to delivering person-centred care that empowers individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling, independent lives within supported accommodation. You will join a team committed to safety, dignity, and meaningful community participation, working across a variety of residential settings.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct holistic assessments of each client's physical, emotional, and social needs, then design and implement individualized support and skill-development plans that promote autonomy and daily living capabilities.
• Engage clients in goal-setting interviews, identifying personal aspirations and barriers, and regularly review progress against tailored benchmarks.
• Monitor client wellbeing and behavioural patterns, documenting observations and compiling detailed reports for internal reviews and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate referrals to allied health professionals, community health services, and employment or training providers, ensuring seamless access to additional support networks.
• Identify gaps in local community resources and advocate for expanded services in housing, transport, and recreation to better meet client needs.
• Liaise with families, guardians, and community organizations to foster inclusive environments, while actively promoting awareness of available disability services and resources.
• Provide hands-on daily care and educational support to clients in group homes and independent living units,
including assistance with personal care routines, medication management, and household tasks.
• Support clients in navigating social, emotional, and financial challenges, offering practical guidance and crisis intervention when required.
• Prepare funding submissions, resource proposals, and progress reports for government bodies and funding agencies, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to policy reviews and staff training that enhance service delivery quality.
Requirements
• Qualification in community services, disability, social work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 1 Year of working experience in residential care or disability support, with a strong understanding of person-centred planning.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients, families, and external agencies.
• Strong report-writing and documentation skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, showing initiative and adaptability in dynamic environments.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification, Working with Children Check, and National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• Relevant qualification to above field.
