We're partnering with a number of respected organisations across the Newcastle and Hunter region that are seeking commercially minded and capable Financial Accountants and Senior Financial Accountants to join their internal finance teams.
About the opportunities These are hands-on accounting roles where you'll become a trusted member of the finance team rather than simply processing transactions.
You'll have exposure across the full accounting cycle, supporting month-end reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering, while helping leaders make informed commercial decisions.
Success in these positions comes from being someone who enjoys asking questions, understanding how a business operates and taking genuine ownership of your work.
Your responsibilities may include Depending on the opportunity, your responsibilities could include: Preparing month-end and year-end financial reports Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions Supporting statutory reporting, compliance and external audit requirements Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial planning Monitoring fixed assets and capital expenditure Analysing financial performance, trends and variances Maintaining effective internal controls and financial integrity Partnering with operational stakeholders to provide financial insights Identifying opportunities to strengthen systems,



reporting and processes Preparing ad hoc analysis and reports for senior leaders and executives About You You are an experienced Financial Accountant who takes ownership of your work and produces accurate, complete and timely financial information.
You enjoy investigating issues, questioning unusual results and understanding how financial activity connects with broader business operations.
You are comfortable working to month-end deadlines, managing competing priorities and communicating with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Ideally, you'll bring: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting (CPA or CA completed, or currently progressing, highly regarded).
Demonstrated experience in an internal Financial Accountant, Senior Financial Accountant or similar commercial accounting role Experience working to month-end reporting deadlines and delivering accurate, timely financial information.
Strong reconciliation, financial reporting and analytical skills.
Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
A proactive, hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and a genuine sense of accountability.
