The opportunity This is a 6 month contract Financial Accountant role for someone who enjoys the operational engine room of finance.
You will sit within a Financial Reporting team that owns accounts payable, reconciliations, operational finance controls and the reporting that goes to internal leaders and external stakeholders.
Alongside the day to day, you will help implement a recent payments system and move it into business as usual, then keep improving how the function runs.
If you like finishing the month knowing the numbers are clean and the process behind them is better than it was, this will suit you.
About our client Our client is a large Australian financial services group that is growing rapidly.

What you will be doing Supporting end to end financial operations, including accounts payable, intercompany invoicing and the associated reconciliations, with accuracy and timeliness front of mind Processing and monitoring accounts payable activity: supplier setup, invoice workflows, payment status, aged invoices and stakeholder queries, in line with delegations, policies and service levels Maintaining the financial operations control environment through documented processes, review routines and monitoring of operational finance controls Investigating and resolving issues, escalating where appropriate,
and keeping stakeholders informed Supporting the payments system implementation and transition to BAU by embedding controls and procedures and working through post implementation issues Contributing to process automation and continuous improvement across the wider finance function What you will bring A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Commerce, with an Accounting major preferred 4+ years' experience within financial services, a professional services firm or a large corporate A strong understanding of operational finance processes, including payroll accounting, statutory payments, intercompany transactions and financial operations reporting Strong organisation, planning and time management skills, because the role runs to deadlines and agreed service levels Clear written and verbal communication, since you will field queries from business unit managers, employees and external suppliers What is on offer You will join a team where the work is visible and the scope is genuine.
