For more than 150 years, Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA) has supported schools and communities across the state.
Today, we are Western Australia's second-largest education provider, supporting more than 84,500 students through a network of schools and nearly 14,000 staff.
We're seeking a First Nations Education Consultant to join our First Nations Education Team within the Teaching and Learning Directorate in our Bunbury Regional Office.
The First Nations Education Consultant works collaboratively with schools and the First Nations Education Team to strengthen culturally responsive practice and embed First Nations perspectives across teaching, learning and school improvement.
Working with school leaders, educators, CEWA consultants, Community Liaison Officers, families and local communities, this role helps build educator capability, strengthen community partnerships and improve outcomes for First Nations students across the Bunbury Diocese.

About the Role




Success in this role means building the capability of educators and school leaders to embed culturally responsive practices and First Nations perspectives across teaching, learning and school improvement.
You will establish strong relationships with schools, families and local communities, deliver meaningful professional learning, and contribute to improved educational outcomes for First Nations students across the Bunbury Diocese.
Key responsibilities include:
Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA's StrategicInitiatives and Quality Catholic Education.
Support school and system initiatives aligned with the Vision for Learning aimed at ensuring high expectations in First Nations education.
Support the development and growth of culturally responsivity in Catholic schools in the Bunbury Diocese by leading the implementation of the First Nations Education Improvement mapping process.
In collaboration with First Nations Education Team lead relevant, localised professional learning across the Bunbury Diocese.
Collaborate with CEWA staff, including the Bunbury Regional Officer to support School Leadership Teams to develop, activate and embed a First Nations Education goal within the School Improvement Plan and School Improvement processes.
About You
The ideal candidate is a team-oriented and culturally responsive educator with strong knowledge of First Nations cultures and communities, particularly within the Bunbury Diocese.
They will be a confident communicator who can build trusted professional relationships,



deliver engaging qualified learning and develop practical, creative solutions that improve outcomes for First Nations students.
Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.
Demonstrated commitment to Quality Catholic Education, CEWAs Vision for Learning andrelevant teaching and learning frameworks, position statements and guidelines.

Understanding of cultural competency research and practice related to school improvementprocesses.
Understanding of First Nations cultures and communities across Western Australia, particularly those within the Bunbury Diocese.
High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintainaccurate and comprehensive written reports.
Highly regarded:
Understanding of the operation of Catholic schools in Western Australia.
Qualifications and experience in Early Years education.
A cover letter briefly addressing the selection criteria.
A curriculum vitae outlining employment history, qualifications and certifications, and providing a minimum of two skilled referees.
