QDN exists to:•promote and maintain active, vibrant networks that inform our work•let people know about the lives of people with disability and how to best talk with us•influence governments and others to bring about full and equal participation and citizenship, and•grow an independently sustainable, effective and accountable organisation that reflects our values, vision and mission.POSITION SCOPE AND PURPOSEThe Communications and Marketing Officer reports to the General Manager.
This position works with a degree of autonomy and as part of a team where interdependencies and collaboration with colleagues, QDN members and internal and external stakeholders is critical to the successful delivery of projects, services and activities.The appointee will plan and deliver marketing and communications activities to build a positive public image and connect QDN with its members and the greater public.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESFulfil this role in accordance with QDN's policies and procedures, and:
Tell the stories of our members by working with teams to assist in gathering member stories.
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive strategic communications and/or media campaigns aligned with QDN's strategic and operational priorities.
Develop communications and digital media content for QDN channels including newsletters, social media and website.
Plan, coordinate and deliver communications and marketing activities for QDN projects, events, campaigns and organisational priorities.




Work with QDN members and teams to identify, develop and communicate lived experience stories in ways that are accessible, respectful and aligned with QDN's values and key messages.
Setting up QDN events and managing event platforms (Zoom, Eventbrite).
Booking interpreters/captioning.
Undertake and contribute to the development of accessible content.
Provide expert advice to all QDN staff on sensitive public relations, stakeholder messaging, or reputational risks.
Coordinate and support activities to identify and assist with media opportunities.
Analyse communications performance data and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and reach
Maintain QDN's paper and electronic records and documents in accordance with the organisation's procedures.
Provide support for incoming calls and emails as required.
Promote membership growth activities through communication channels in line with strategic and organisational plans.
Ensure compliance with QDN's Quality Management System.
Other duties as required by the General Manager or CEO.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTESThe essential knowledge, skills, and attributes of the appointee include:
Strong verbal and written communication and engagement skills that cover a broad range of stakeholders including people with disability, community and government organisations and private business.
Well-developed communication, inter-personal and negotiation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively via phone, written and online.
Demonstrated experience in planning and delivering complex marketing and communications activities and projects, including strategic planning, prioritisation, exercising initiative, judgement and high-level problem-solving
Ability to interview members and communicate a story with key messaging.
Ability to deal with sensitive matters with discretion (confidentially and tactfully).
Be able to plan and prioritise your workload.
The ability to follow set procedures, with attention to detail.
Be able to handle multiple tasks and see each through to completion to hit key deadlines.
Strong computer literacy skills across Microsoft office suite, Adobe, Canva, event platforms, Zoom,



video editing and handling social media.
Work within a team workplace and independently as required.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
Commitment to QDN's values, mission and vision.
QUALIFICATIONS University degree and/or equivalent relevant worked experience in the areas of marketing, communications or a related field.
Key Job Requirements Relevant tertiary qualifications (or demonstrated equivalent experience) or relevant experience in the areas of disability, human services and/or project management experience would be highly desirable.Some screening and/or licences are required to fulfil the role as per the list below:Positive Exemption Notice (Yellow Card) Essential Police Check Essential Drivers Licence Desirable ABOUT OUR WORKPLACE Benefits of joining us include;
