Informatech has recently been engaged to support a major Federal Government infrastructure modernisation project in Canberra.
As part of this engagement, we are seeking an experienced Senior Infrastructure Architect to act as the senior technical authority for the project.You'll be responsible for translating approved architecture and project requirements into integrated, implementation-ready detailed designs across compute, storage, virtualisation, backup and recovery, networking, monitoring, identity, security and operational services, and for directing project architects, engineers, system administrators and vendors through build, migration and transition to operations.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as senior technical authority and primary technical adviser to the Project Manager, owning the integrated project architecture, design principles and standardsLead development of detailed designs across compute, storage, virtualisation, backup, networking, monitoring, identity and securityChair design reviews and assure technical artefacts produced by project resources and delivery partnersDirect and oversee platform build, configuration, integration and commissioning activitiesLead migration strategy and sequencing, including Azure Local activities, VMware to Hyper‐V migrations and Commvault backup/recovery integrationApprove technical runbooks, cutover and rollback plans, and confirm technical readiness for operational acceptanceDefine and oversee technical testing,



assurance and operational readiness activitiesLead knowledge transfer to ensure operational teams can support delivered servicesAbout YouDemonstrated experience as a technical lead or lead architect for a complex enterprise infrastructure modernisation program, including leadership of multidisciplinary technical teamsExtensive experience producing and assuring implementation‐ready designs across Windows Server/Hyper‐V, Azure Local, VMware migration, Commvault, enterprise compute/storage/networking and monitoringDemonstrated experience overseeing complex build and migration activities from design through cutover, rollback, validation and stabilisationDemonstrated experience delivering infrastructure across secure/segregated (OFFICIAL and PROTECTED) environmentsStrong documentation and stakeholder communication skills across architecture, design, implementation and governance artefactsRelevant architecture, Microsoft, virtualisation or cloud certificationsExperience leading large enterprise infrastructure refresh or data centre transformation programsExperience leading VMware to Hyper‐V migrationsExperience in Australian Government or highly regulated environmentsExperience managing vendors and multidisciplinary technical delivery teamsRequirementsAustralian Citizenship, and must currently hold an NV1 security clearanceAbility to attend on‐site 3-4 days per week, including major workshops, cutover windows and governance forums (some activities may fall outside standard business hours)
