Technical Lead | Typescript & AI | MelbourneWe're looking for a people focused Technical Lead to join a growing and well known scale up in Melbourne and lead a small team of talented software engineers.
This is a role for someone who wants to stay close to technology, but who has a real interest in their team and seeing people succeed.You'll take ownership of a core area of a customer facing product, working across engineering and product to shape what gets built, how it gets built and where the platform needs to go next.
You'll provide technical direction, get involved in architecture and implementation, and step in when your team hits a difficult problem or needs unblocking.What you'll be doingLead and develop a small team of full-stack engineersTake ownership of a key area of the product and its technical directionMake architectural decisions and guide the team through complex technical problemsUnblock technical, delivery and cross-team challengesSet a high bar for engineering quality, reliability and maintainabilityHelp the team balance short-term delivery with longer-term technical improvementsIdentify technical risks, dependencies and opportunities before they become problemsRun regular 1:1s,



provide meaningful feedback and support engineers through their career developmentHelp identify where people can stretch, take on more responsibility and progressPartner with other engineering leaders to improve how the wider engineering organisation operatesRequired experienceLead experience - you must have led or managed a team beforeStrong end to end full-stack engineering experienceExperience working with React, TypeScript, Node.js and AWS (this should be your preferred and most experienced stack)Experience owning or contributing significantly to architecture and technical directionA solid understanding of modern software engineering practices, AI implementation and scalable systemsStrong product instincts and an ability to understand the commercial context behind technical decisionsThe confidence to challenge, influence and collaborate with Product and Engineering stakeholdersA genuine interest in developing people and building high-performing teamsYou'll be joining a well established scale up with a significant product, an ambitious roadmap and plenty of opportunity to make an impact.
The role is based from the company's Melbourne office on a hybrid basis.
