The Firm

An excellent opportunity has become available for an Intermediate to Senior SMSF Accountant to join a well-established and highly regarded accounting firm in Brisbane.

The firm has a strong SMSF division and is looking for someone with hands‑on SMSF experience who wants to continue developing their technical capability while gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of funds.

You’ll join a supportive team with solid systems, ongoing training and genuine opportunities to progress your career.

The Role

- Prepare financial statements, member statements and income tax returns for a portfolio of SMSFs.
- Review and process contributions, pensions and investment transactions in line with SMSF legislation.
- Manage annual compliance requirements and liaise with external auditors to resolve queries.
- Correspond directly with clients and the ATO regarding fund compliance, lodgements and general queries.
- Assist with actuarial certificates, pension documentation, minutes and resolutions.
- Monitor contribution caps, pension minimums and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Work across BGL and other cloud-based accounting systems.
- For more experienced candidates, provide technical support and assist with reviewing work completed by junior team members.





About You

We’re open to candidates from Intermediate through to Senior Accountant level , with the position and package tailored to experience.

- Previous experience working with SMSFs within an Australian accounting firm.
- A relevant Accounting degree.
- Good working knowledge of SMSF legislation, including the SIS Act, SISR and relevant ATO requirements.
- Experience preparing SMSF financial statements and tax returns.
- Exposure to contributions, pensions and other SMSF compliance matters.
- BGL/BGL360 experience highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
