Business Development Manager - Contaminated Material
Farrell Transport is on the hunt for an energetic Business Development Manager to take ownership of key clients across Queensland and the East Coast of Australia, specialising in contaminated material movement opportunities. You'll become the go-to contact for our clients, cultivating solid working relationships with contractors, developers, builders, consultants and other stakeholders across the industry. Keeping a finger on the pulse of current and upcoming projects, you'll spot chances to bring in contaminated material, disposal and transport work from within your client base, teaming up with Farrell Transport's operations and commercial staff to put together practical, commercially sensible solutions. The role is very much hands-on, blending account management with client relationship-building and project-driven sales. Expect regular client catch-ups, site visits, enquiry handling and quoting, staying connected to each opportunity from the moment it lands right through to completion.
What you'll be doing
Develop and nurture solid relationships with both current and potential clients
Be the go-to contact for Environmental clients and everything their projects require
Stay visible across client sites, meetings and upcoming jobs
Field environmental and contaminated material enquiries, pulling together the project details needed to work out a solution
Get a clear picture of client needs — material types, project volumes, timeframes and site conditions
Coordinate and build relationships with landfills, recycling facilities and disposal sites.
Put together quotations and proposals, chase tender opportunities and follow them through
Negotiate rates and commercial terms without losing sight of project profitability
Keep tabs on current and upcoming construction, remediation, demolition and infrastructure work
Liaise with operations on job requirements, timeframes, disposal sites and resourcing needs
What we're looking for
Background in sales, account management, estimating or project work within environmental services, waste, civil construction, earthworks, remediation, demolition, transport, quarry materials or something similar
Good grounding in, or exposure to, the construction and infrastructure world
A proven knack for building and growing client relationships
Sharp communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
Sound commercial instincts and the confidence to talk rates and scope
A knack for reading project details and turning them into workable solutions
Confident in working with new clients, internal & external stakeholders
Applicant must be flexible with working hours, hold a current Australian Drivers License and be prepared to spend most days on the road.
What we offer
A supportive and collaborative work environment that encourages career development and work-life balance
A competitive salary package
A fully maintained company vehicle, mobile phone and laptop
A positive, team-oriented environment where your contributions are valued with further opportunities
Ongoing support and opportunities for professional growth within a growing business
